Alyssa Mills
Farm Intern
Alyssa was born in Cleveland and has lived most of her life in Ohio, cherishing all aspects of the natural world while exploring many career paths. After graduating from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science, she moved on to work at Akron Zoological Park in a zookeeper role and then accepted an orangutan caregiver position in Wauchula, Florida at The Center for Great Apes. She then moved back to Ohio to conduct immunology research on dormant memory T cell recall response to infection years after vaccination and taught English to new refugee arrivals for Cuyahoga Community College. Recently, Alyssa has combined her education and scientific backgrounds as a Naturalist Assistant with Cleveland Metroparks and with this new farming journey. Alyssa hopes to create a healthy farming plot and further connect the west side of Cleveland with conservation missions while engaging residents in sustainable farming practices.
