Heather Hunter

Farm Programs & Operations Administrator

Born and raised in Medina County, Heather’s been obsessed with plants, animals, and words as long as she can remember. Growing up, her parents taught her about gardening and the importance of food security. Over the years, she’s raised chickens, worked in veterinary medicine, and written articles about homesteading, the environment and local farms for all kinds of media. Though her undergraduate degree is in digital marketing and communications, she’s pivoted to connecting people to place through permaculture, environmental education, and resilient local food systems. Now pursuing her master’s through Prescott College, she’s hopeful that her time at Countryside will move her closer to her dream of a farm that provides healthy food, animal-assisted therapies, and deeper connections with the natural world to underserved communities. A maker and storyteller at heart, she currently lives in Portage County with her partner, a roommate, and a boisterous pack of Boston terriers.
