This is the ultimate combination of savory and sweet. This strawberry mixture paired with gouda cheese on fresh sourdough bread is guaranteed to have you drooling!
2 servings
Ingredients:
-
4 slices Sourdough Bread
-
6 oz. Gouda Cheese, cut into slices
-
2 tbsp. Butter
-
1/2 cup Balsamic Vinegar (optional)
Strawberry Mixture
-
1/2 cup Strawberries, diced
-
2 tbsp. Basil, finely chopped
-
1 tbsp. Honey
-
Salt to taste
Method:
- Strawberry Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine all strawberry mixture ingredients and set aside.
- Balsamic Reduction: Heat vinegar in a small fry pan over medium-low heat until it is reduced to half the amount, about 10 minutes. Set aside to cool. This step is optional.
- Assembly: Spread butter on the outer side of all 4 pieces of bread. On the non-buttered side of two slices of bread, evenly distribute the strawberry mixture, top with slices of gouda, and top with bread leaving the buttered side out.
- Place sandwiches in a fry pan over medium-low heat and cover for 5 minutes. Keep an eye on it to ensure the bread does not burn. Flip sandwiches and toast opposite side for about 2 more minutes. Remove from pan, drizzle with balsamic reduction (optional), and ENJOY!
